Teacher of the Year Award

Today, I joined Alameda County Superintendent of Schools, Sheila Jordan, and her fellow Board Member, Yvonne Cerrado, as well as Dr. John Casey's office, in presenting Amador Valley High School teacher Brian Ladd with the Alameda County Teacher of the Year Award. Mr. Ladd has been a long-time Amador government teacher, and is being honored for coaching his students with the "We The People" competition civics program. Our Amador team placed first in the State last year, and second in the Country! (It is important to note that our Foothill High School "We The People" team placed second in the State!)

Mr. Ladd is long recognized for his dedication to educating young men and women on the importance of understanding the United States Constitution, the rights it bestows upon all Americans, but most importantly, how those granted rights take meaning when executed.

I hope all boys and girls, men and women, will contemplate a career in public life, whether its public service in working in a governmental position, or as an elected official! There is no greater patriotic calling, in my estimation, than service to one's community.

Congratulations to Mr. Ladd for bringing that message home to the young men and women of Amador Valley High School!

Yeah Mr. Ladd! I have known Mr. Ladd for over 12 years - was his student - and have a lot of respect for him. He deserves this recognition!
